The Portuguese capital is well-regarded as a golf destination, with a dozen top-rated Lisbon golf courses in the city and surrounding areas. If you want to really brush up on your game during your Lisbon travel, many courses and hotels offer special passes that get you five rounds for around €200, a significant saving on individual green fees.

Designed by famous golf architect Robert Trent Jones Jr, this top-rated Lisbon golf resort features one of the best courses in all of Portugal. Amid the beautiful surrounds of the Portuguese landscape, this exciting Atlantic Course requires bold drives, courageous approaches and artful putting. Its sister Monastery 18-hole and nine-hole courses are no less of a challenge. Visitor green fees range from €30 midweek for nine holes to €120 for a weekend round on the championship course. 18 holes, par 72 and 9 holes, par 35.

Located just five minutes from the airport, this nine-hole course is a very accessible option for those short on time who want to play some golf during their Lisbon travel. This undulating, tight course boasts artificial lakes and a host of bunkers. Restaurant, bar, pro shop, equipment hire, driving range, putting green and lessons are all available on site. Advance booking recommended. 9 holes, par 32.

Golfe do Estoril - Golf course

Conveniently located directly off the A5 motorway between the capital and Cascais, this two-course club has 27 holes designed by famous golf architect McKenzie Ross. It has previously hosted both the Portuguese Open and international competitions. Dating from 1936, this Lisbon course benefits from much colourful scenery, as it overlooks the seaside town of Estoril and features many different trees dotted around. The tightly-designed main course requires tactics and accuracy without too much length. Green fees €48 midweek, €65 at weekends. 18 holes, par 69 and nine holes, par 34.

Also designed by the legendary Robert Trent Jones Sr, this picturesque Lisbon golf course features great views of both the Atlantic Ocean and the Sintra Mountains. Together with the four-star hotel resort that has been established around the course, Quinta da Marinha has been voted one of Europe’s best golf destinations. Green fees are expensive unless you are staying on the property – visitors pay €95 for a round, while guests pay just €47. 18 holes, par 71.
