Lisbon enjoys a Subtropical-Mediterranean climate that makes it the second warmest capital city in Europe even during winter (after Malta’s Valletta). These extremely mild winters feature daily averages of 8-17C in January. Springtime temperatures are also very favourable, with regular temperatures in the mid-twenties. This is one of the most popular times to visit the Portuguese capital.

The city also has a long, hot summer, stretching from May all the way to October. In each of these months Lisbon weather averages above 20C, with many days much hotter. July, August and September are the hottest months, with temperatures regularly exceeding 27C.

Lisbon is also one of the brightest spots on the continent, with longer daylight hours than virtually any other part of Europe. Drenched in sunshine, Lisbon weather boasts a a minimum of four and a half hours of sun in December and as many as 11 hours of sun in July. In other words, there’s never a bad time to visit Lisbon.
